Representative Mark Walker (R-N.C.) today voted in favor of H.R. 2192 , "To amend the Public Health Service Act to eliminate the non-application of certain State waiver provisions to Members of Congress and congressional staff." This bill passed the House of Representatives unanimously and would eliminate the ability for members of Congress and staff to be exempt from the American Health Care Act (AHCA).
Walker is a co-sponosor of H.R. 2191. The legislation, introduced by U.S. Representative Martha McSally (R-Ariz.), can be read here.
"This is common sense," Walker said. "We're going to make sure that members of Congress are under the same rules as our constituents. Washington cannot exempt itself from the laws it expects the people of North Carolina to follow."
